about
Henrique Casal Ribeiro
Teacher, teacher trainer, doctoral researcher — Portugal.
Henrique is an English language teacher and trainer who has been teaching online since 2016. He currently teaches English for Specific Purposes and Business English at Lusófona University and delivers corporate English training in the IT sector.
His doctoral research at NOVA FCSH / Universidade Aberta investigates connectivist professional development for online English teachers, built on two foundations — connectivism and online teacher professional development (OTPD) — with intercultural communicative competence (ICC) as the competency the resulting framework is designed to cultivate.
He is the author of Teaching English in the Digital Age: Online Practices and Innovations (2024), creator of the language-learning apps Capsulingo and BizSlang, and a regular presenter at international ELT conferences and online events. His classroom practice is grounded in task-based language teaching and Dogme ELT: meaning first, emergent language, reformulation over correction.
